Grind spices coarsely, one spice at a time. The idea is to break them down to release their flavours, without reducing them to a powder.
Combine the spices, add the black tea and stir gently. The preparation of chai tea blend is completed.
Cut squares of cheesecloth, approximately 4” by 4”.
Drop two teaspoons of spice mix in the centre of a square.
Draw the cheesecloth into a little bundle and secure with butcher’s twine. Be sure to leave enough twine to attach the tags.
Create a little tag at the end of the twine by folding a rectangle of washi tape in half and cutting it diagonally to make a flag.
Once the tea bags are ready, store them in a pretty jar with a hermetic lid.
Voilà! Your gifts are ready to be given to your friends who need a little bit of comforting.
