Fragrant-rich herbs enhance our garden as well as meals in the kitchen. They’re easy to grow year-round. To always have some within reach, you can easily build your own container and set it up on the patio.

    Materials required

  • A plank of wood
  • Tin cans
  • Chalkboard paint and brush
  • Big and small drill
  • Little slates
  • Rope
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Hammer
  • Adhesive tape
  • Screw eyes
  • Hooks
  • Nails

— STEP 1 —

Start by drawing a large rectangle at the top of the plank of wood. Use tape around said rectangle to allow yourself to paint only the relevant area. Chalkboard paint requires two to three coats.

— STEP 2 —

While waiting for the paint to dry, prepare the tin cans. Using the drill, make two holes at the top of each can.

— STEP 3 —

Pass the string through the tin cans’ perforated holes.

— STEP 4 —

Place the tin cans as well as the little slates on the wooden plank to determine their future positioning. Using the pencil, draw reference marks and screw in the hooks that will make it possible to hang the tin cans.
