The alarm goes off so it must be 5:30 a.m. A million thoughts buzz through my head as I lie in bed trying to piece together the day ahead. One day at a time is my motto, but not until after I fuel up on java with Natrel Café French Vanilla, a long-time morning tradition. Being in media and a mom to sons Cash and Presley is no easy feat; in fact, it’s exhausting. As hectic as life can get without a nanny or grandparents nearby, it does get easier every day thanks to my three mantras.
— Personal timeouts —
Between TV shoots, deadlines, media events, endless outdoor adventures and family, what keeps me sane is one glorious hour a day of solo time. Having promised myself one workout a day, I run and practice yoga. Runners and yoga mat are in my car for spur-of-the-moment timeouts. Fortunately, the sweaty look suits my outdoorsy brand! I choose yoga when I need to look professional later that day. Yoga helps me to set a daily intention, which keeps me grounded and positive.
— Adventure on —
#Adventureon is my tagline. My husband and I make sure our boys are involved in activities they are passionate about. Spending quality time together as a family unit (preferably outdoors) is high on my priority list. Introducing our kids to new adventures and experiences like stand up paddleboarding and zip lining keeps life fun and fresh. Time to switch off career mode and give them my undivided attention.
— Love what you do —
Over the past three years I have gone through a huge personal transition. Changing careers mid-life in an effort to do what I love has allowed a more flexible schedule with my boys. It has not been easy, but it has been worth it. I learned the hard way to set boundaries and to stay true to myself first and foremost. Nurturing my own personal goals and ambitions means I am living my life to its fullest potential. How can I teach my kids to follow their dreams if I am not living my own? When mama is happy, everyone is happy, and the universe takes care of the rest.

Despite the lack of sleep, I am grateful for these crazy days raising a family and finding my true self through work and play. At the root of it all is love and gratitude. Adventure on.
