Protein milkshake with strawberries & muffin bites for dipping

You will see that this simple recipe for strawberry protein shakes is uncompromising when it comes to taste and nutrition. This milkshake alone contains 18 g of protein per serving. How is this drink even possible? All you need is Natrel Plus 3.25%, which contains 2X more protein per serving than regular milk offers. Add bite-size muffin wedges, each providing you with an additional 5 g of protein, with very little added sugar and a healthy dose of protein. This milkshake-muffin combo can help you satisfy your appetite any time of the day! To make the most of your time, it's best to cook your muffin bites in advance and prepare your milkshake at the last minute.

  • 500 ml (2 cups) Natrel Plus 3.25%
  • 250 ml (1 cup) frozen strawberries or raspberries
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) maple syrup

Walnut muffins

  • 70 g (½ cup) dates (about 6 to 7 Medjols dates)
  • 250 ml (1 cup) water
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) canola, sunflower or grape seed oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 160 g (1 cup) whole wheat flour
  • 50 g (½ cup) old-fashioned oatmeal
  • 70 g (½ cup) cashew nuts (coarsely chopped)
  • 70 g (½ cup) pecans (coarsely chopped)
  • 35 g (¼ cup) sliced almonds
  • 20 g (2 tbsp) chia seeds
  • 50 g (¼ cup) dried cranberries

Walnut muffins

Place the rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Use about 60 ml (¼ cup) oil to grease the mini muffin pans. In a small microwaveable bowl, combine the dates and water.

Cover and cook at maximum power for one minute. Puree the dates with a blender foot or fork. In a bowl, combine the date puree, oil and eggs. Mix well and set aside. In another bowl, combine the flour, oatmeal, almonds, cashews, pecans and chia seeds. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and mix gently with the spatula, just enough to moisten the ingredients. Add the dried cranberries. Divide the dough into the mini muffin pans.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of a muffin comes out clean. If you prefer to cook your muffins in a regular-size mold, the cooking time needs to be 30 to 40 minutes. Unmold and let cool.

Put all the "milkshake" ingredients and reduce to a smooth, creamy consistency. Mix for at least two minutes to incorporate enough air into the preparation and obtain volume. Pour the mixture into a large glass or bowl and accompany with the muffin bites you made. Do not hesitate to dip your muffins in your milkshake for a delicious burst of flavour!
